Organized Labor

Where we stand

“I’ve been a union man since I was a union boy, and I will be a union man until the day I die. If you came here to spit on the workers of the world, or to make excuses for someone who does, you are in the wrong place.

What this site is

This is a record of the American labor movement. The fights that built the weekend, the eight-hour day, workplace safety, anti-discrimination law, and every other protection that working people did not get handed to them. We are going to tell those stories, because most of them have been deliberately forgotten.

We are also going to tell you where that fight stands today, honestly. Where things have gotten better. Where things have gotten much worse. No both-sidesing workers versus capital.

Editorial stance

  • Pro-union, not pro-any-particular-union.
  • Honest about where things have gotten better and where they have gotten worse.
  • Written for working people, not academics or policy wonks.
  • No both-sidesing workers versus capital.
